Facebook as a Social Networking tool?

According to Experian Hitwise, Facebook accounts for 1 in every 7 pages viewed by UK Internet users

It reports that during September, Facebook accounted for almost half (49.2%) of all UK internet visits to a social networking website, making it the most popular social networking website in the UK - a lot of these utilize Facebook for professional and business networking. Hitwise monitoring data shows that Facebook's average visit time increased from 19 minutes 59 seconds in September 2008 to 26 minutes 14 seconds during September 2009.

Does it really work for business networking? Or, is it more for socialising? How does it compare to business networking tools such as LinkedIn or Twitter? If you were going to choose just one, would Facebook be the one you chose?
